
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Aug. 26, 2010 … Hugh McColl, former chairman and chief executive officer of Bank of America Corporation, will be the featured speaker at the next Hood Hargett Breakfast Club meeting. The networking group will meet Friday, Sept. 10 at 7:30 a.m. at Carmel Country Club.
Before retiring in April 2001, McColl guided Bank of America to more than 50-fold growth, acquiring more than 50 companies and creating the largest banking institution in the United States. Today, McColl is chairman of The McColl Group, LLC, an independent investment bank based in Charlotte.
“Hugh McColl is a giant in Charlotte’s business community, and we’re thrilled to have him kick off our fall lineup of speakers,” said Jenn Snyder, executive director of Hood Hargett Breakfast Club. “We expect a big turnout, and we’re looking forward to another great year.”
More than 45 local and regional businesses are members of Hood Hargett Breakfast Club. The monthly events provide an opportunity for members to network with each other and entertain clients and prospective clients. At each monthly event, a local student athlete is awarded a $1,000 scholarship as part of the Liz Murray Scholarship Fund. To date, the Breakfast Club has awarded more than $180,000 to more than 150 local high school students.
