Charlotte, N.C., July 30, 2008 … Crescent Resources, LLC has created a new division to manage urban, mixed-use projects, and the company has named Robert Zeiller to lead it.
As vice president of Crescent’s new urban mixed-use division, Zeiller is charged with overseeing all of the company’s mixed-use projects in urban areas. He was promoted from Crescent’s commercial division, where he managed the mid-Atlantic region.
“The establishment of this new division recognizes our expertise in urban, mixed-use development and its importance to our company’s future,” said Art Fields, president of Crescent Resources. “Bobby is a talented member of our team who has led the development of one of our premier mixed-use projects, and we look forward to his leadership of this new division.”
As vice president of land development, Zeiller led the development of Crescent’s notable urban mixed-use project Potomac Yard – a 300-acre development minutes from downtown Washington and adjacent to Reagan National Airport. He was responsible for the design, permitting and construction of the Potomac Yard land development efforts with total costs of more than $100 million.
The project included the design of the Monroe Avenue Bridge and the Potomac Yard Pedestrian Bridge, the design and construction of the Potomac Yard Trunk Sewer and the Potomac Yard Lift Station, as well as the management of the Environmental Soil Management Plan. Located in Arlington, Va., Potomac Yard’s 650,000-square-foot office building received a LEED-Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council. It is primarily occupied by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Crescent also recently developed the acclaimed Piedmont Town Center – a project in Charlotte’s SouthPark neighborhood with 400,000 square feet of office space, 90,000 square feet of retail space and 189 condominiums.
Among the urban mixed-use division’s new projects is the redevelopment of approximately 4.3 million square feet of the Armed Forces Retirement Home’s Washington campus. The project calls for more than 2,500 residential units, including approximately 375 affordable housing units, retail space, and approximately 1.5 million square feet of general office and medical office space. The project also includes the renovation of the historic King Hospital Complex into a boutique hotel and meeting facility.
Before joining Crescent in 2001, Zeiller was a senior project manager for R.J. Griffin and Company in Charlotte, where he was responsible for numerous commercial and multi-family projects throughout the Southeast. Zeiller graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a bachelor’s degree in building and construction. He currently resides in Great Falls, Va., with his wife Becky and two children, Sara-Bailey and Austin.
