Crescent Communities Opens Camp Lake James

Lake James, N.C., July 3, 2008 … Crescent Communities on Lake James unveiled its lake adventure center, Camp Lake James, with a private grand-opening celebration on July 4.

Owners in Crescent’s 1780 and Old Wildlife Club communities are automatically members of The Camp, which will offer recreational options currently not available on Lake James, such as organized expeditions, planned social events and year-round activities. A limited number of recreational licenses will be available to the public.

“The foundation for the Camp Lake James design came from our fondest memories of summer camp,” said Will Yeager, project manager. “The Camp will be the center of activity for our residents on Lake James – a place for them to make lasting memories with friends and family.”

The Camp features an open-air Social Hall with a large fireplace and gathering deck, exercise room, game room and full-service snack bar. Nearby activity fields, tennis courts, pools and an outdoor amphitheater offer space for recreation, concerts and performances.

The Camp also includes an Expedition Center, where residents can borrow canoes and kayaks, nature walk packs and fishing poles. And, a full-time activities staff is on-site to help members plan their next lake adventure or learn more about great trails and places to fish in the Lake James region.

Adventure lovers will appreciate the extensive system of hiking trails connecting The Camp with 3.5 miles of new pathways on the Overmountain Victory National Historic Trail, a linear national park. These trails wind through 1780 and will eventually connect the community to a system of trails that leads all the way to the North Carolina coast. And, The Camp’s beachfront cove serves as a kayak launch and swimming hole, while two docks allow members to travel to and from by boat.

Potential homeowners and visitors can experience Lake James firsthand this fall when Crescent Communities on Lake James launches its rental cabin program. Those interested can e-mail info@camplakejames.com for more information.
