Brixx Kicks Off its 2008 Master's of Beer Appreciation Program
Charlotte, N.C., June 9, 2008 … Brixx Wood Fired Pizza is now accepting enrollment in its successful M.B.A. program, which awards a Master’s of Beer Appreciation to “students” who complete the curriculum.
Back for 2008, the M.B.A. program rewards customers who sample various domestic and imported beers at any of Brixx’s 10 locations in the Carolinas.
“This is fun way for people to learn about and enjoy beers that they may not otherwise try,” said Brixx Managing Co-Partner Jeff Van Dyke. “Our M.B.A. program grows in popularity each year.”
The curriculum includes 21 beers selected by Brixx and 11 electives, which are local or seasonal beers that vary by location. After each new beer, students receive a stamp on their M.B.A. card.
To earn a degree, students must sample 32 different beers and attend one extracurricular activity, such as a beer dinner, beer tasting or brewery tour. Along the way, there are free rewards at various levels, including a Brixx keychain beer opener, a pizza and an M.B.A. T-shirt.
Graduates receive a special gift and a Brixx Bash – a party in their honor that includes $50 worth of free pizza and appetizers. The program ends May 31, 2009, and prizes must be redeemed by June 30, 2009.
With locations in Charlotte, Raleigh, Chapel Hill, Greensboro, Greenville, S.C., and Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Brixx has become a favorite among diners in the Carolinas. The restaurants are famous for their wood-burning ovens and 24 beers on tap.
The menu includes a variety of specialty pizzas, as well as salads made with locally grown greens, sandwiches served on daily-baked focaccia bread, pasta dishes and desserts. The restaurants also serve 14 wines by the glass.
An environmentally friendly company, Brixx recycles all possible paper and glass products where available. Brixx Wood Fired Pizza is owned by New South Pizza Inc. Additional information, including a complete menu, is available at
